“Jom Balik Kampung” program

Jom Balik Kampung is a trip to/from INTEC students’ hometown. Few months ago, inspired by Niro, I started a pact among my friends to go back to our hometown during mid-semester holiday.
Everyone can join the Jom Balik Kampung program!
Last time, I only started with a few friends of mine. Finally, we’ve made it. 11 persons in one coach! Sitting next to each other. WE have fun until the end of the journey.

Fun Fun Fun

I know that there are many INTEC students who really ‘allergic’ towards KTM Train. “Slow, unreliable, and not comfortable”, they said. I have to admit that those facts are true, but believe me, going back by train is very fun because of the following reasons:
  1. You can chat all-night-long (make sure your voice is not loud enough) if you use economy class/second class-seating.
  2. You can go to toilet anytime you want.
  3. You can have a small kenduri together with your friends on the train! You buy your own food before you board the train.
  4. After months of camwhoring around the shopping malls, this is the time for us to camwhore at somewhere else, i.e the age-old Butterworth station.
  5. We can also have our supper/breakfast at the cafe coach in the middle of the train. Oh, what a moment…

Lessons learned

  1. Sometimes, you can see a mother can’t sleep well because she needs to make sure her child in a deep sleep and does not feel the coldness of the aircond. There are times when the air-conditioner malfunctioned, and you can see how a parent struggles to keep off the heat from the child.
  2. The coaches are not really in tip-top condition. Some of them are used throughout the decades. This makes us realize how ‘tak ada duit’ KTM is. They have suffered few consecutive losses.
  3. For months I have been wondering why the KTM staff wears the RM1 logo. Is it because they charge you RM 1 for their services? NO.
  4. I nearly shed my tears when I surfed the net in my home and read in KTM’s website: Their aim is to earn RM1 profit this year.
  5. What touched me most is throughout my experience of using KTM trains to go back home, I’m so amazed with their astounding level of hospitality and politeness. They even wake us up if we are few minutes away from our destination. (It is not stated in their ticket that they should wake us up anyway).
Slogan: “Jom Balik Kampung, because going home together is fun”.
